Kane Anderson, MD Dr. Anderson is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon at Durango Orthopedics in Durango, Colorado. Dr. Anderson specializes in the treatment of shoulder, elbow and wrist conditions, but is trained in general orthopaedic surgery as well. Originally from Alaska, Dr. Anderson has pursued training from one end of the country to the other. He graduated summa cum laude and phi beta kappa with a degree in Biochemistry from the Honors College at the University of Oregon. While there, he earned a full academic scholarship. After college, he went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Dr. Anderson then pursued his general orthopaedic surgery residency training at Dartmouth Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire. In addition to his surgical training, he completed a Master’s degree at the Dartmouth Institute, focusing on the quality improvement of healthcare. There, he authored several scientific articles and participated in the creation of a multi-disciplinary care pathway for patients with osteoporotic fractures and hand injuries. In addition, he received the Alma Hass Milham Award for ethical and humane patient care, the OREF Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery grant for fostering critical analysis of orthopaedic literature, a National Institute for Health grant to support his master’s degree training, and was a nominee for the Dartmouth resident teaching award. Before moving to Durango, Dr. Anderson completed specialized training in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Harborview is the only Level 1 Trauma referral center for a five state region. While there, he performed over 800 upper extremity and microvascular procedures. Dr. Anderson is a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and has been selected to be a member of the American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leaders Forum. Dr. Anderson and his wife, Dr. Mareca Pallister, an obstetrician/gynecologist, have recently moved to Durango. They enjoy spending time with their children in the outdoors, hiking, biking, skiing and fishing.
