Our Orthopedic Center Our History | What Sets Us Apart | Cutting Edge Diagnostics (MRI) Durango Orthopedic Associates Offers a Superior Level of Care and Service Unequaled in the Four Corners Area
Founded in 1962, Durango Orthopedic Associates has attracted some of the best-trained physicians in the nation. Also, the presence of Mercy Regional Medical Center, makes possible the most advanced instrumentation and surgical capabilities that one would expect to find in a major city like Denver, including total knee, elbow, shoulder and hip replacement surgery.
[top] Durango Orthopedics has invested in the latest technology, including advanced digital computed X-ray, open MRI, injection suites and therapy. The group includes specialists in knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow and hand, who handle both adult and pediatric orthopedic injury. Recognizing that back and neck pain requires a specialized approach, the group created a specialty center, Spine Colorado, that has fellowship-trained spine surgeons, physiatrists and spine-specialized therapists. Durango Orthopedic Associates have purchased a GE Signa Profile Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit. The Signa Profile is a technologically advanced diagnostic tool. The open MRI is a full body scanner with advanced coil technology that significantly reduces noise during the scan. The open design is ideal for those who experience claustrophobia, and the extra wide patient table can accommodate both infants and patients weighing up to 450 pounds.
The Signa Profile is the only open MRI system on the western slope of Colorado, east of Salt Lake City and as far south as Albuquerque. Individuals with musculoskeletal problems in the Four Corners area now have the opportunity to be diagnosed by this cutting-edge tool. Durango Orthopedics has independently contracted with the National Orthopedic Imaging Associates (NOIA) to provide their expertise in radiologic interpretations of the MRI scans. The scans are read by trained radiologists who specialize in musculoskeletal and neuroradiology imaging interpretation. The MRI facility is located in the Durango Orthopedics office, providing convenient service for patients. We have made billing easier, charging one global price for both the scan and the formal radiologic interpretation. The one bill policy is easier and more cost-effective for both patients and insurance providers. In December of 2003, Durango Orthopedic Associates became one of the first of a growing number of orthopedic groups in the country to implement a leading edge, full service, digital computed radiography system. Currently, less than 10% of orthopedic groups nationally offer these services. However, in time, all orthopedic groups will be expected to offer the enhanced imaging and interpretation capabilities that can only be found in computed radiography systems, such as that offered at Durango Orthopedic Associates. Call us at 1-800-524-9821 for more information or if you have any questions or click here to download the MRI forms.
